Abstract

Sacrospinous uteropexy or hysteropexy (SSH) is an evolution of sacrospinous ligament fixation (SSLF) of vagina or sacrospinous colpopexy (SSC). Sacrospinous colpopexy is a reconstructive surgical procedure performed unilaterally or bilaterally from vaginal or abdominal approach consisting in suture fixation of vaginal vault or the highest vaginal point to the sacrospinous ligament. Sacrospinous colpopexy accomplished from the vaginal route is currently regarded as one of the modern reconstructive techniques of female genital organ suspension and one of the most common corrective surgeries performed for vaginal apical defect or pelvic organ prolapse. Mastering sacrospinous colpopexy technique from vaginal route is recommended to resident physicians in gynecology. The aim of work is presentation of sacrospinous ligament fixation of vagina or uterus based on available literature.
