Introduction: Lowered psychosomatic condition is a common disorder among the elderly people. Aim: The aim of the research is to estimate the frequency of occurrence of lowered emotional effi-ciency among senior mature students in relation to their physical and social activeness.
Patients and method: The research group consists of students of the University for Senior Students in Rzeszow. The measure has the form of a questionnaire, which includes questions referring to physical and social activeness and mental condition using abbreviated geriatric scale of evaluating depression.
Results: The tests have shown higher frequency of emotional disorders in persons who are not active physically. Worse mood or depression is also observed in the group of persons who are not socially active.
Conclusions: Systematic participation in physical and social activities, which has both prophylactic and therapeutic meaning, should be considered as one of the basic elements of everyday life of an elderly person.
