The influence of the physical stress on the blood bnp level in patients with coronary artery disease
Keywords:
physical stress, brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), coronary artery disease (CAD)Abstract
Introduction: The coronary artery disease (CAD) results from the impaired balance between the left ventricle requirement for oxygen and possibilities of its supply, especially during physical stress. Left ventricle wall motion abnormalities are one of the reasons of BNP blood level increase. The aim of the study was to estimate the influence of the physical stress on the BNP blood level.
Material and methods: BNP blood level was determined in 109 patients with coronary artery disease, both at rest and stress, using the immumoradiometric assay.
Results: In patients with CAD the rest BNP blood concentration amounted to 46,51 ±69,28 Wm! while during the physical stress — 45,96 ±67,05 pghnt There were no statistically significant difference between these two values.
Conclusions: In patients with CAD physical stress does not cause the BNP blood level elevation. The influence ofphysical stress on the BNP blood level and its usefulness in early diagnostic of left ventricle ischaemia still need further investigations.
