Interest in post-graduate training in emergency medicine among nurses

The objective of this paper is to attempt at an assessment of the interest in post-graduate training programmes in emergency medicine among nurses. The study involved 200 nurses of different age, education and work experience. The data were collected in the period from January to April 2003, using a specially-developed questionnaire. The results obtained prove that nurses show interest in post-graduate training in emergency medicine. The preferable form of the training they choose is a specialized course in circulatory-respiratory resuscitation. The most important reason for enrolling in a post-graduate training programme in emergency medicine was a chance for obtaining an interesting job and earning a higher salary in the future.
