Abstract

The aim of the study was to compare the results of rehabilitations of the patients after ischemic stroke in the early period, depending on the paresis, age, sex and the presence of aphasia and their functional in clinimetrical scales.

Material and method: The study group consisted of 85 people of both sexes after ischemic stroke and the scales by Rankin, Barthel Index and the scale of functional independence (Functional Independence Measure - FIM) were both applied for the sake of assessment. The study was performed twice: at the start of rehabilitation and after its completion.

Results: The results showed improvement in functional capacity after rehabilitation in a clinic, a high correlation between different scales (from r = 0.7 and r = 0.9), the effect of the paralysis and aphasia patients and the lack of influence of gender and age on the resulting functional activity.

Conclusions: During the early rehabilitation of patients with right-sided hemiparesis and without information – processing deficits and cognitive dysfunctions of information – in the form of cognitive aphasia show more progress in restoring functional capacity, while sex and age has no significant effect on the results. The scale of the FIM contains a full analysis of the psychological evaluation of rehabilitation results essentially concerning Stroke Patients’ thus should be more frequently used in rehabilitation practice.
