Abstract

All drugs registered on the market must be safe, of proven efficacy and quality – and only such drugs are used by doctors in clinical studies or private practice. Among many health determinants health care system is of some importance and drugs as an element of this system are interrelated with other determinants, i.e. with micro- and macroeconomics. Since industrialisation of health, medicalisation of life and the politicisation of medicine are mutually reinforcing at present times we should recognize drugs as determinants of “lost” health immanently intertwined with other determinants influenced by new technologies like cybermedicine or telemedicine.
