Informatics systems supporting medical processes

Medical processes are supported nowadays by informatics systems thanks to the advancement in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This paper shows that certain consultation routines can be mapped into a mathematical/logical algorithm. Thus it is possible to design programs with knowledge base, able of solving problems independently, diagnosing and formulating advisory suggestions. These programs are called expert systems, as they imitate intellectual tasks which used to be performed, until now, by the best professionals. Very big data volumes include very useful knowledge, hidden in the form of patterns, trends, regularities and exceptions. Traditional data analysis methods are useless here, as they are not able to process vast amounts of data collected by contemporary organisations. This paper presents an informatics system based on data mining technique, which is the branch of informatics science, linking such knowledge areas as: database systems, statistics, support systems for decision making, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data visualisation, parallel and distributed computing, and many others
