Abstract

Rudolf Tadeusz Czerniak (1938–2015) was a non-professional writer of unquestionable literary talent and remarkable life. It was his own biography that provided the subject-matter of his works, often reminiscential in character and composed in either prose (Pebbles and Boulders, 2002) or verse (Notes of a Defiant Soul, 2014). The writings allude to his years of childhood and youth of living in Roztocze and attending high school in Józefów, then of university studies, military service in the navy, occupational work and family life in Oświęcim.
