About the Journal

The journal "Music in the Pedagogical, Social and Cultural Context" was created by transforming the previous publishing series Music in the Pedagogical, Social and Cultural Context into an annual. Studies and Sketches edited by Ewa Nidecka and Jolanta Wąsacz-Krztoń, Rzeszów University Publishing House.

The situation on the Polish publishing market and the need to create a journal with such a profile determined the decision made by the editorial office. Apart from changing the frequency of publication and meeting the requirements for periodicals, the thematic scope remains unchanged. We therefore hope that not only the group of authors willing to publish in our journal will increase, but also the group of readers who are close to topics related to music and all issues arising at the interface of related disciplines.

The journal has a broad thematic formula, which includes multi-dimensional issues related to music, its pedagogical, social and cultural aspects. They are characterized by interdisciplinarity, which translates into the diversity of approaches to the issues discussed. The research area therefore includes various aspects of broadly understood knowledge about music, starting from the issues of music education, through the role of music in society and shaping civic and civilizational awareness. In addition, the reader will find here philosophical and aesthetic contexts of music, sketches by outstanding teachers and artists, and interpretations of selected musical works. Such a broad pedagogical, psychological, ethnomusicological, cultural and historical-analytical perspective provides an impulse to explore still unexplored topics and various contexts of musical arts.
