Assessment of the measurement reliability of plantography indexes
Keywords:
reliability measurements, plantography, index of depth of the longitudinal arch of the foot, corpulence index of the foot, length and width index of the footAbstract
Background: Each research method which is a way to obtain specific parameters (information), enable the classification of the obtained results, should be characterized by: objectivity, accuracy, reliability and standardization.
Aim: Assessment reliability of measurement the original indicators proposed by the author plantographical indices to assess the longitudinal arch of foot (index of depth of the longitudinal arch of the foot : Wgwp) and foot proportions (corpulence index of the foot: Ts, length and width index of the foot: Wd-sz).
Material and methods: The study included 60 randomly selected students of the University of Rzeszow, including 30 women and 30 men at age 21-26. Plantographical footprints were made by non-marking technique, instrument idea by Ślężyński. Plantograms developed in way suggested by the author. Reliability of measurement examined indicators was estimated on the basis of coefficients values α-Cronbach and correlation coefficients test-retest reliability. Statistical analysis were conducted by using Microsoft Office Excel and STATISTICA 8.0 program made by StatSoft.
Conclusions: Proposed plantographical indices meet the criteria of reliability of the measurement results, therefore, after having reviewed the other criteria for determining the degree of excellence of research tools can be used in cross-sectional studies.
