Using extract from Yucca schidigera in pig fattening
Keywords:

Ammonia is the gas posing the most problems in intensive pig breeding systems. Among other things, saponin substances are used to reduce ammonia emissions from animal manure. Extract from Yucca schidigera added to feedstuff reduces ammonia concentration in the pig house air. Porkers given the saponin extract demonstrated better feedstuff utilization ratio and higher body weight at the end of the fattening cycle. Experiments showed that the addition of extract from Yucca schidigera to feedstuff resulted in reduction of that gas in pig house air by 25,52% to 25,87%. It follows from experiments carried out that saponin preparations can significantly support measures used in order to optimize chemical factors of microclimate prevailing in pig farm premises.
