Education for sustainable development at schools – case study: working with a student gifted at biology

Abstract

The aim of the work is popularizing sustainable development during the Decade for SD (announced by UNESCO for 2004-2014). Sustainable development may be realized by active, open and democratic society that values knowledge and numerous skills. Building of Polish schools and education of the 21st century has to harmonize with the creation of conditions for implementing of sustainable development. Finding talents and working with gifted students (e.g. at biology) is a contribution as it shapes curious observers of the reality, eager to solve problems which is a step towards a sustainable world. In the paper, chosen proposals of research on invertebrates, usefull while activating biology research of students – biology olymipad participants.
