Old cemetery, park, monumental treesAbstract
The area and location of medieval cemeteries was resolved by the Roman Council, in 1059, specifying the shape of church and chapel neighbouring graveyards as oval of a given width. Such graveyards were small, proportional to sacral edifices, without permanent architectural objects. The old cemetery in Rzeszów is the oldest necropolis of the city. It occupies the area of 3.65 ha between Targową street and the river Wisłok. Until nowadays there have been preserved 622 tombstones and the old stand with numerous monumental trees.
