Monitoring of the natural and regulated part of a piedmont stream with the use of macrobenthic fauna
Keywords:
biomonitoring, river regulation, piedmont stream, benthosAbstract
Percentages of mayfly, caddish fly and beetles larvae decreased in the regulated part of the stream. Stonefly larvae were not observed. At the same time, there was an increase in the percentage share of oligochaetes, mollusks and dipterans larvae. General densities of benthic macroinvertebrates were not reduced. However, the river regulation disturbed the composition of benthic communities.
