Abstract

The article highlights the importance of modernizing district heating systems in the context of sustainable development, emphasizing their key role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality. Sustainable development requires seeking solutions to production and organizational problems while considering the impact of their implementation on the economy, society, and the natural environment. This is particularly important in the energy sector. District heating, which supplies heat to urban areas, is identified as an efficient and environmentally friendly solution. The paper discusses new technological advancements and legal regulations in the Polish district heating sector, emphasizing the need to improve energy efficiency, and the use of renewable energy sources and cogeneration. The aim of the article is to present new solutions in district heating that support the retardation of adverse environmental changes, contributing to its protection and improving the quality of life for residents.
