Ensuring safety in sport in relation to selected tasks and the legal status of the Polish anti-doping agency

Ensuring safety in sport is one of the most important aspects influencing the general social positive perception of this sphere of everyday life. The term of the aforementioned safety should be understood as preventing the possibility of any risk arising in relation to fans as participants of e.g. mass sports events and athletes who, by using illegal doping in sport, not only commit fraud and at the same time violate the principle of fair play, which is fundamental to sport, as well as risk the loss of health and even life due to the medical risk of illegal doping. On the basis of the Act on Combating Doping in Sport, which entered into force in 2017, the Polish Anti-Doping Agency (POLADA) has become the main entity responsible for combating this negative phenomenon, whose organizational structure and powers correspond to the global standards that have been developed by the World Anti-Doping Agency through its effective activities.
