The case of the murder of Iwona Cygan – an analysis of errors in the investigation in the forensic aspect

Abstract

The article concerns the murder of Iwona Cygan. It is complicated due to the huge number of mistakes that have been made during the investigation. The first omissions occurred when the girl was reported missing. However, subsequent actions taken by police officers, technicians and prosecutors had an impact on the protracted conclusion of the case. In the course of the investigation, all procedures for conducting the given activities were violated. Regulations and guidelines weren’t followed. Evidence has been destroyed or lost many times. The publication contains a comparison of the errors made with the model performance of the given activities.
