Abstract

The development of new technologies in the world and with it the progressive socio-economic changes are forcing a debate on the meaning of CBDC issuance. Implementing digital central bank money and putting it into widespread use will be a huge technological, organizational and legislative challenge. Hence, some European central banks seeking to establish optimal conditions for the smooth operation of the CBDC have undertaken an empirical study of the legal environment of the planned new digital currency.
