Abstract

Any citizen of a state which is a member of the European Union at the time of acquiring the nationality of that State automatically acquires the citizenship of the European Union. This institution influences many areas of life of each entity operating within a given legal system. One of the many rights resulting from EU citizenship is the possibility of filing a complaint with the EU Ombudsman. This kind of entitlement tends to exercise the fundamental right of every human being, namely the right to defense. The subject of this complaint is improper administration on the part of the institutions, bodies and organizational units of the European Union. A properly designed and processed complaint by the European Ombudsman aims at eliminating irregularities in the conduct of EU institutions.
