The aim of the article is an attempt to assess the degree of inadequacy of the ECB's monetary policy in terms of the needs of the EU economy, which has not yet joined the Euro Zone, using the example of the Polish economy. The analyzed research problem is important from the perspective of a country with derogation from Economic and Monetary Union. Status with a derogation means a formal obligation of a member state to adopt the common currency, the Euro. Each of the economies of the countries with a derogation will sooner or later have to face the consequences of the inadequacy of the single monetary policy in the context of macroeconomic stabilization. The analysis was carried out for the time period from January 1, 1999 to March 31, 2023, with particular emphasis on the periods of the contemporary financial and economic crisis of 2007, the pandemic and war in Ukraine. The conclusions from the conducted analyses may prove insightful in the discussion on Poland's accession to the Euro Zone.
