Abstract

An attempt to determine species composition and quantitative analysis of the arachnid fauna was carried out on degraded sites at various stages of succession, supported by some reclamation practices. The studies included municipal waste dump at Barycz and a post-industrial site of Krakow Soda Factory – „Solvay”. The results helped to arrive at a hypothetical model of functioning of this systematic group on degraded locations and to conclude how effective were the reclamation practices completed at these sites. Using Barber’s method, the presence of 6 families of arachnids, including 2 families in common for both sites (Lycosidae, Erigonidae). The former industrial site of „Solvay” soda factory had more diversity among families and species.
