Abstract

The research was carried out on two reclaimed areas of land: the Solvay postindustrial area and the Barycz dumping site. Ants were caught along transects using the Barber's method. On each of the investigated areas the occurrence of 6 ant species was revealed, including 3 species common for both sites and 3 specific ones for each area. While the Barycz area is homeland for species adapted to the presence of biogas and to grass mowing, more ants could be caught on the Solvay site.
