Abstract

Elevated levels of zinc (>2500 mg · kg -1 ), as well as the presence of live eggs of nematodes, Ascaris Lumbicoides, were discovered intested sewage sludge from wastewater treatment plant of the Lemna type. Because of this, the tested sludge cannot be utilizedeither in agriculture or in land reclamation for agricultural or non- agricultural purposes. this sludge may only be used for growing of plants to be used for compost production and for growing plants that will not be used for consumption or production of fodder (e.g. only for plants for energy generation). High variability of the contents of heavy metals intested sludge indicates the necessity to test in detail each batch of the sludge.
