Abstract

The role of allotment gardens in urban landscape, their functions and biodiversity, are presented. Presently, allotment gardens constitute a regular element of greenery as well as recreation areas and form modern green sections in cities and towns. They fulfill productive, social, recreational, integrating, ecological and educative functions, as well as are a rich source of biodiversity, including both the plant cover and pathogenic factors.
