ANABASIS. Studia Classica et Orientalia is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal devoted to the study of the ancient Eastern Mediterranean, Western Asia, and Central Asia. It welcomes research in history, archaeology, numismatics, epigraphy, literature, religious studies, Oriental/Asian studies, and related fields.
The journal publishes original research articles, shorter notes and communications, and critical reviews of scholarly books. It particularly welcomes contributions that offer new interpretations; present or reassess historical, archaeological, literary, documentary, epigraphic, and numismatic evidence; report significant discoveries; or synthesize the current state of research.
The journal’s geographical scope encompasses the eastern Mediterranean, the Black Sea region, the Caucasus, Western Asia, Central Asia, India, and China. Particular attention is given to cultural, political, economic, religious, and intellectual contacts between the Greco-Roman world and the societies of the ancient Near East, Central Asia, South Asia, and East Asia.
