Abstract

Security is understood as a certain state of certainty and the absence of threats is one of the fundamental values that a person tries to protect and care for. In today's world the individual is unable to meet and counteract the numerous threats, which is why it is the role of the state to ensure security on a global and local scale. That is why a number of entities were established. Their main or one of many tasks is watching over security. Public administration entities are among the broadly understood security administration, however private entities and non-governmental organizations start to play an important role in this area. For this reason, the considerations have been focused on the activities of foundations and associations that undertake socially useful activities in the field of security. For example, the Polish Red Cross, Water Volunteer Ambulance Service, Mountain Volunteer Rescue Service, as well as the Volunteer Fire Brigade. This study analyzes the role of non-governmental organizations in shaping different types of security.
