Abstract

Voice and speech constitute an essential element of an academic lecturer’s professional work and an important factor influencing students’ knowledge acquisition process. Therefore, the aim of this article is to diagnose and analyze students’ opinions regarding the significance of lecturers’ speaking style and its impact on the reception of educational content. The study was conducted in 2026 using the diagnostic survey method and an original questionnaire developed by the authors. The analysis of the obtained results demonstrated that students pay particular attention to such aspects of verbal communication as speech rate, voice modulation, and clarity of expression. A monotonous manner of speaking was identified as the factor most frequently hindering concen-tration, engagement during classes, and knowledge acquisition. Respondents also emphasized the influence of effective voice use on the quality and attractiveness of teaching sessions. Furthermore, the article highlights the importance of vocal hygiene and the necessity of undertaking appropriate vocal exercises that improve voice quality, both in terms of facilitating students’ reception of information and protecting the lecturer’s vocal health.
