Abstrakt

In the history of Poland before the Second World War, Lviv was of great significance in many fields of science, culture and art. A new theory in the philosophy of science was born there; its creators were known worldwide, not only in Poland. The prewar Lviv flourished in many areas, and its achievements became the foundation for the further development of sciences and arts in Europe. These developments had their roots in the historical region of Galicia. The distinctive Lviv culture contained elements of many cultures. Such multiculturalism is evident not only in science, but also in literature, theater and film. It is, however, the aesthetic thought born in Lviv which is of particular importance. It supported the development of film art until the Second World War. Lviv’s aesthetic thought laid the foundations for a new field of science, the aesthetics of film music.
