City flora’s and fauna’s biodiversity monitoring with contest of biology olympiad participants

In the paper, chosen aspects of functioning of flora and fauna in the cities is presented. A place and role for man in an urban ecological setup was determined and it was pointed out that the spreading of cities is a complex and inevitable process that should be considered with regard to ecological aspects (according to principles of sustainable development) as well as social and economical ones. Acknowledging the importance of stimulating social interest in sustainable functioning of cities should influence teachers and students of every level of education, from primary schools to universities, including ecological or biological contests participants and manager and members of student scientific circles, to actively participate in the process.
The aim of the paper was to point countless topics significant in urban areas to supervisors of biology contests and to present non-invasive ways of examining the urban flora and fauna.
