Abstrakt
The first section of the article deals with the main assumptions of functional linguistics in which the analyses of language functions, discourse and linguistic pragmatics are at the centre of investigation. The following sections of the paper present the most important approaches to discourse analysis and linguistic pragmatics. The final section briefly discusses the multidimensional character of discourse analysis and pragmatics, as well as the relation between discourse analysis and paralinguistics.
