Philosofical contexts of literature in the opinion of students of final high school grades

Abstract

This article raises a question of teaching philosophy in high school at Polish classes considering the preparation to mature exam in particular. The author analyses the current situation in the Polish education system when both possibilities and needs of Polish teachers in terms of teaching students philosophical contexts of chosen literary works. She supports her reasoning by questioning respondents whose answers were given by high school students getting ready for the exam. She points out the problem of the varied preparation level of students in finding philosophical trends of the given epoch in literature and expresses her fear of satisfactory results. The author offers a solution to this didactic problem at the end.
