The paper summarises the survey done on high school students in March 2024. The study aims to capture the perspective on Polish as a language, and what the surveyed students expect of Polish classes. A large part of students claim that said classes are necessary yet point to certain weaknesses of Polish teaching. Answers prove that the image of Polish as a subject is generally linked to the matura (final) exams. Answers regarding students’ expectations towards Polish teaching are also notable in that they emphasise teaching stylistic, lexical, and language culture skills. The results thus call for thinking over the shape of Polish teaching in modern high schools.
