Using autobiographical threads from the life of prominent gypsyologist Jerzy Ficowski, I attempted to present the characters of Gypsy women I had selected, whose fate was recorded in the book Demons of Others’ Fear. Detailed descriptions of the functioning of the female milieu of this ethnic group, as well as the friendships that Ficowski made, allowed for a penetrating, stereotype-free characterization of the image of the Romani woman.
