Abstract

The purpose of the following article is to formulate didactic reflections that stem from the observation of introducing the postulate of competence as the most fundamental element of teaching at school, among other schools – first of all at a High School, in the field of the Polish language. From the point of view of a teacher, beyond the headword competencies strengthened with the key epithet, educational reality is concealed, which, as it turns out, seems to not take into consideration, that forming competencies is a long-term process, that is also difficult to be examined – but first of all – it is a process, that needs to correspond with the needs of a youngster and a one that should relate to the world of their experience and possibilities. Polonistic teaching in the field of competence is a serious challenge, as it demands putting into practice and mastering the cultural code. Defining anew, what such a cultural code should include and with what kinds of methods it should be transferred, is a primary, fundamental issue aimed at educating and training youngsters who are to become conscious and responsible for both community, environment and themselves. Theory should serve practice, and education should provide students with chances for development in the field of polonistic teaching, that shall realistically join into carrying out the key competencies.
