The article focuses on the issue of occurrence of ADHD amongadult men and women. A pilotstudy involving persons entering adulthood has been conducted as means of preliminary assesmentof currency and severity of the problem. 331 individuals (204 women and 127 men) who were 2ndyear students enrolled in various courses at the Jagiellonian University have been surveyed. Analysis of the gathered data reveals that nearly 1/4 (72) of students of both genders (18% of womenand 28% of men) exhibits symptoms of disorders related to ADHD severe enough to negativelyimpact all aspects of their lives, not merely studying. These findings suggest a need for continuation of empirical studies on adult ADHD and consequent development of effective means of helping the affected students.Downloads
