Computer tool for lateral sigmatism diagnosis

Abstract

The paper presents a draft of a mobile application designed to assist the process of data collection during a study on lateral sigmatism. Lateral sigmatism is a speech disorder, which causes strong controversies among speech therapists. It also does not have a clear and consistent theoretical description. The proposed tool will allow for registration of results of a detailed speech examination of many patients. Therefore, it could be employed in a study on characteristics of lateral sigmatism. In the future, it could be transformed into a tool for computer-assisted diagnosis of individual patients.
