Abstract

Self-sufficient in the world, where men decided on everything, well-educated, musically gifted, a singer, a pianist, an actress, director of plays, administrator of many theaters and cabarets, teacher of what is now called „author’s song”, a member of vocal ensembles, the first Polish female conductor, composer, songwriter – these are just some of the unique talents of the bright artistic phenomenon – Anda Kitschman. Talented, fascinating, the first great star of the Polish entertainment genre – unfortunately forgotten today. In the interwar period her name caused a sensation in the musical world of Vienna, Warsaw, Lviv, Katowice, Krakow. She was a true phenomenon and a colorful bird of her time. Born in Vienna, connected with Lviv, Warsaw, Katowice, Krakow she left an unforgettable trace in musical culture of these cities.
