Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The paper should not have been published elsewhere or submitted to any other journal(s) at the time of submission to “Social Inequalities and Economic Growth”.
  • Text is submitted in OpenOffice, MS Word or RTF format
  • The "Template First Page" file contains the Author’s ORCID. Please, connect Your Author's Profile (PUBLIC tab) to the ORCID system.
  • The paper is consistent with the Journal’s template.
  • The paper does not exceed 35,000 characters (incl. spaces).
  • The abstract consists of aim of the study, research methods and results. The abstract contains key words and JEL codes.
  • The list of references is arranged alphabetically and only includes works cited in the article.
  • Graphs, figures and tables are provided in electronic form (MS Excel file).

Author Guidelines

  1. “Social Inequalities and Economic Growth” focuses on social and economic aspects of the relations between inequalities and development. The Journal prefers studies which discuss economic problems from an interdisciplinary perspective. It devotes special attention to studies on the connections of economy with other fields of human activity (such as sociology, axiology, knowledge, politics, nature and biology, consumption and technology).
  2. The Editorial Board accepts original and unpublished research papers touching upon the problematic aspects of economics, which are in line with the scope of the Journal. The Editorial Board accepts the following for review and publication: theoretical research, papers which verify theories, ideas and models based on empirical research, case studies and other empirical research, statements, reviews and refuting studies.
  3. The Editorial Board accepts papers in English or Polish. Authors are responsible for the language quality in their paper, and it is strongly recommended to have your manuscript checked by a native speaker or an English language specialist before submission, in order to ensure that the language is acceptable.
  4. Papers must be drafted in line with the guidelines provided in the template (up to 35,000 characters, including abstracts in Polish and in English).
  5. Explanatory footnotes must be placed at the bottom of the page, while references in the text must be consistent with APA style, with the name of the author, the publication year of the work cited and the relevant pages in brackets. The manuscript must end with references prepared according to APA style, organised alphabetically. Authors are requested to verify their references in the CrossRef database (www.crossref.org/guestquery) and provide DOI numbers for the respective items.
  6. Authors are requested to state their degree, affiliation (name of the university or another unit), contact details (e-mail address, phone number, contact address) and ORCID.
  7. All submissions should be made online at the Journal’s submission system (Submissions). New users will need to create an account.
  8. After submission all papers are evaluated by the editorial office and may be immediately rejected if they are considered to be out of the Journal’s scope or otherwise unfit for consideration. Papers which passed an initial evaluation but which fail to meet the formal requirements may be sent back to the Authors for corrections. The information is sent to Authors whithin 30 days.
  9. All submitted papers are subject to a double-blind review process, in which the Author’s name is not disclosed to the Reviewer, and the Reviewer’s name is not disclosed to the Author. The avarage duration of the review process is 60 days. The Author must receive two positive reviews for the paper to be published. (See more information: Reviewing).
  10. Authors must take into account the Reviewers’ remarks and comments or provide reasons for refusing to accept them. Should the Reviewers provide contrary assessments, the paper will be accepted for publication if the third Reviewer or the committee of Subject Editors provide a positive review. Two negative reviews mean that the paper is rejected by the Editorial Board. The final decision whether or not to publish the paper rests with the Editorial Board.
  11. In further stages of the publication process, papers implementing statistical methods will be subject to statistical editing. The Publishing Office of the University of Rzeszów also provides language editing for the papers published.
  12. In order to ensure high ethical standards in the publishing process, the Editorial Board follows the guidelines developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (Ethical Guidelines).
  13. Authors must provide information about their respective contributions to the paper, sources of financing, and contributions of research institutions, societies and other entities (financial disclosure). The Editorial Board will take action against any cases of ghostwriting (the authorship does not comprise all persons eligible for co-authorship or the acknowledgements do not mention all persons eligible for being listed there) or guest authorship (the authorship comprises a person or persons who are not eligible for authorship).
  14. All Authors are asked to send relevant information concerning the authorship and financing of the publication, in accordance with the Declaration form attached. The copy of signed Declaration must be submitted using the Journal’s submission system. The original Declaration must be sent to: “Social Inequalities and Economic Growth” Editorial Office, University of Rzeszów, Institute of Economics and Finance, Ćwiklińskiej 2, 35-601 Rzeszów, Poland.
  15. By submitting their manuscript to the Editorial Board, the Author agrees to have it published in paper and electronic form without remuneration.

ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES (APC)

  1. Authors willing to publish their papers in the Journal must cover the costs related to the publication of their papers (all costs of the peer-review process, professional production of the papers, in addition to other publishing functions) as “Social Inequalities and Economic Growth” is a full open access journal. There are no charges for rejected articles and no submission charges.

The APC for the Journal is PLN 400 + VAT (€  100 net). The Author will receive an invoice to the address they provide.
