Abstract

The paper shows the gender differences in the European labor market from the perspective of equal opportunities, and discusses the economic context of equality policy. Data describing wage differentiation by gender were presented. This article shows the insufficient participation of women in decision-making bodies, representative bodies in business as well as in politics. Statistics show that significant gender pay gap persists in European countries. Ensuring equal treatment for women in economic and political affairs will enhance sustainable economic development and bring about social benefits around the world.
