Abstract

The dynamic development of new media and the new consumer trends that have developed over the recent years have forced manufacturers to change the way in which they communicate with customers. The dedication with which the latter strive to obtain knowledge about products, their awareness, heterogeneity and active involvement in dialogue with the manufacturers which they declare may often support the brand in imagerelated efforts and in the obtaining of valuable consumer insights. With the rise of mobile and social technologies, customers are now more pow-erful than ever. Their always-online status and ability to find information in seconds have forced marketers to rethink how they engage and connect with their customers. An inappropriately man-aged communication with the consumer and a lack of awareness of the latter’s current importance in the relationship between manufacturers and customers may have disastrous causes for brand. Provided with the recent technology-led changes that continue to take place in the market-place, the author indicates the role of the modern customer engagement in brand management. New customer demands, along with the advent of digital technologies are compelling enterprises to rebuild their communication strategy. In her study, the author examines how prosumers’ attitudes and needs influence modern marketing. The study also provides a synthesis of the customer engagement literature. The author points out selected modern mechanisms of customer engage-ment that have been practiced in recent years.
