Abstract

In 2010, a survey was conducted among farmers in the municipality of Hyżne managing their farms on LFA areas, called the mountain areas. Surveyed farmers are mostly people aged 50-60 years, with vocational education, leading plant and animal productions primarily for their own holdings within the farm up to 3 ha. Most farmers are familiar with the principles of Common Good Agricultural Practice and apply various methods of protecting the environment from the negative agricultural activities (anti-erosion treatment, safe storage of solid and liquid manure). Much of the farmers is currently at the stage of adapting their farms to the required standards and declares continued participation in the program.
