Abstract

The aim of the research was to analyse the most frequent irregularities found during livestock transport inspections between 2019 and 2023, as indicated in TRACES. The scope of the study included the analysis of data from the years 2019–2023, obtained from the registers and reports of EU institutions. The most common violations of transport regulations concerned document discrepancies and incorrect destination addresses. Issues related to animal welfare were most often the result of incomplete travel log entries and failure to meet the requirements for journeys lasting more than 8 hours. A downward trend in the number of violations was observed in 2023, suggesting the effectiveness of the implemented changes in control procedures. It is recommended to introduce more effective verification and training procedures for transport operators to reduce the number of violations. Continuous monitoring using the TRACES system should be maintained, along with the implementation of additional measures to improve its operation.
