The mechanisms of the patients transformation of the names of the medicines
Abstract
This article shows the mechanisms of the patients transformation of the names of the medicines. Patients who want to purchase some medicaments and cannot remember theirs names mix the words. They can do it in two ways: accidentally (using associations) and intentionally (imagining comic words).
Modified names of the medicines refer to proper nouns and common nouns, forms of the medicines, purposes of the medicaments, kinds of the application and ingredients of the medicines.
Most of the transformed names of the medicines are the result of the phonetic similarity.
Transformed names of the medicines have very comic forms. Patients create the names of the medicines using metaphors, metonymies and neologisms.
