Abstract

The article explains the etymology of hydronym Marica, history of previous names and discusses of the name of the river bridges, canals and islands of the river section in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv. Furthermore, the article draws attention to a number of Plovdiv firmonyms directly referring to the name of Marica.
