This article is part of a research conducted among students from Ukraine and Belarus studying in Poland. These studies were carried out on the basis of an original test checking the effect of mastering two cases – the instrumental case and the accusative of singular and plural, and acquiring the ability to recognize the forms of these cases, and in the further process, to use them in the context of language interference, among people for whom the Slavic language (Ukrainian, Russian, Belarusian) is their first language.
The aim of the article is to present, analyse and discuss the closed part of the tests conducted among participants of the Polish language course conducted at different levels of proficiency. The study exposed the existence of interference at each of the levels, with a high frequency of its occurrence. Analysis of the surveys proves the lack of satisfactory effect in mastering grammar issues, which may be reasoned by the lack of linguistic awareness of learners.
