In the article, we presented diversity of diatom flora in four selected research stands on the Łubienka stream (left-bank tributary of the San) and also diversity of communities along the course of the stream. The diatoms were also used as indicative organisms for assessment of environmental conditions in the stream.
In the Łubienka stream, cosmopolitan diatoms and preferring eutrophic waters i.e. fertile ones predominated.
The conducted research clearly indicates that there is a need for building of a sewage system in Łubno and the other villages in the commune district of Dynów which would have a positive effect on the improvement of sanitary conditions of the waters in the stream.
