Spectral analysis of electroencephalografic activity after the magnetostimulation in prophylaxis and treatment of the people with Down's syndrome
Keywords:
Down's syndrome, bioelectrical activity of the brain, low frequency magnetic fieldsAbstract
One of the main directions of researches into new ways of rehabilitation methods in Down's syndrome is improvement of intellectual efficiency performed with external neurostimulation (for example with extremely low frequency magnetic fields). The main goal of the work was the estimation of the influence of extremely low frequency magnetic fields on brain bioelectrical activity of the Down's syndrome individuals with reference to healthy ones. There were 76 people that were exposed to EEG examination with use digital computing of frequency spectrum of EEG signal. There were 38 of them who had Down's syndrome and 38 healthy people. The Down's syndrome group was exposed to a 4 week stimulation of low frequency electromagnetic fields after which 33 people with Down's syndrome were examined again. It was proved that the Down's syndrome population had statistically higher level of electroencephalographic disorders at the 0,001 level of significance than healthy population, then that 200 after a 4 week magneto stimulation the level of electroencephalographic disorders of the Down's syndrome population decreased at the 0,05 level of significance comparing to the initial level but was still different comparing to healthy population at the 0,001 level of significance. Based on the carried out research it was proved that pulsed weak extremely low frequency magnetic fields had positive influence on brain bioelectrical activity of Down's syndrome population which, because of genetic conditions, didn't achieve the typical level of healthy population.
