Walenty Chłędowski is one of the forgotten thinkers in the history of the Polish philosophy, which played an important role in development of it during the partitions of Poland, particularly in Galicia. Born in Jaśliska near Dukla, educated in Przemyśl and Lviv, was not only philosopher but also a translator, writer and literary critic. Although he never became famous with his ideas and philosophical theories, – he wrote primarily about esthetic issues, but also about German philosophy – this despite the fact he had a significant impact on the dissemination of philosophy in Galicia. Cause Chłędowski was a founder and publisher of philosophical and literary magazines on the lands under Austrian rule, like for example “Haliczanin” or “Pamiętnik Lwowski”.
