In Galicia apart from University professors also junior secondary school teachers of classical languages scientifically dealt with philosophy and studies on history of ancient philosophy, which was an important addition to their didactic and popularizational work. Thanks to them the youth got first information from the field of philosophy. That is why their teachers’ influence cannot be overestimated. This article discusses the historic-philosophical output of one of Galician junior secondary school teachers – Jan Bartunek, who worked in Rzeszow in the last years of his life. In his output one may find both scientific works (on chronology of Plato’s dialogues) and popularizational works in which he appeared as a researcher and user of ancient philosophy emphasizing that its ethical message was still up to date at that time.
