„Garibaldi”, „Cavour” and Polish Piedmont
Keywords:

The author reflects upon the phenomenon of Galicia the day before and during World War I. He analyses how much there was in it of Polish and Ukrainian Piedmont. In this respect he looks into the so-called Austrian-Polish solution – the programme of the Krakow conservativists aiming at constructing the future state of Poland in connection with Austria-Hungary. He describes the evolution of this idea since its blooming at the beginning of war until its doom when the war ended. He pays special attention to “Piedmont scenarios” – the roles of Garibaldi and Cavour inscribed to Pilsudski and Bobrzynski. He also deliberates on what was left of those scenarios and the Austrian-Polish idea. And what further courses of life happened to the heroes of this historical drama.
